In the middle of the 1960s, Su-jae was only 6 year old when she learned that her new brother wasn’t her mother’s son. A few years later, they moved in with their father’s new wife. Su-jae loathed her stepmother and made it very clear by bickering with her at the first opportunity. But one day, while playing with her stepbrother on the beach, he got borne away by the waves before she could do anything, and she has been carrying that guilt since then. Now that she’s graduated from high school, her family cannot afford to send her to college and so she has to take a job in a factory to save money for the tuition fees.
