고루한 일상의 전복과 탈출. 무한한 상상력과 도발적인 영화적 감성으로 관객을 낯선 환타지의 세계로 안내하게 될 제5회 부천 국제 환타스틱 영화제가 11일 오후 7시 전야제를 서곡으로 9박 10일간의 여름 환상여행을 시작한다. 11일 오후 7시 부천 중앙공원 야외음악당에서 열리는 전야제에서는 부천필하모닉오케스트라가 추억의 영화음악과 팝과 클래식, 재즈가 어우러진 퓨전 음악을 들려준다. 콘서트가 끝나는 밤 9시부터는 부천 시청 야외 잔디광장에서 석래명 감독의 <고교얄개>(1976)를 무료 상영해 이번 영화제를 가족 축제의 마당으로 자리매김한다.

7월12일 오후 7시 부천 시민회관에서 원혜영 조직위원장의 환영사와 김한길 문화관광부 장관, 임창열 경기도 지사의 축사로 팡파레를 울리는 개막식은 영화팬에게 친숙한 방송인 홍은철, 배유정의 사회로 진행될 예정. 부천 필 스트링 오케스트라와 ‘자우림’의 김윤아가 <인디안 썸머> 주제가를 공연할 개막 잔치에는, 임권택, 박찬욱 감독과 제작자 이태원, 배우 최지희, 안성기, 문성근, 최종원, 유호정, 김석훈이 한국 영화계를 대표해 참석하며 부천 초이스 장편 부문의 심사위원인 로이드 카우프만 감독, 마지드 마지디 감독도 함께 한다.

신작 작업으로 방한하지 못한 개막작 <레퀴엠>의 대런 아로노프스키 감독도 8시 개막작 상영에 앞서 영상 메시지로 부천 시민과 인사를 나눈다. 이번 영화제에서는 총 35개국 140여편(장편:75편/단편:65편)의 영화가 다섯 섹션으로 나뉘어 상영된다.

Let’s go! Pifan 2001

The 5th PiFan will open its curtains at 7 o?lock on the 11th with a Pre-opening ceremony. The Puchon Philharmonic Orchestra will play a fusion mix of original sound tracks from the past, pop music, classic and jazz at the Puchon Central Park Outdoor Music Hall. After that at around 9 pm, director Seok Rae Myung? will be shown for free, making the atmosphere all the more ?amily?festive.

The opening ceremony will ba held in citizen hall, at 7 o?lock on the 12th. Won Hye Young, the chairman of the PiFan organizing committee will give his welcoming speech, Puchon? Phil String Orchestra and Kim Yun Ah, singer of ?aulim?will perform ’s theme song that very night. Director Lloyd Kaufman and Majid Majidi who will judge the Puchon Choice Feature films will be there. Darren Aronofsky? opening film ?equiem for a Dream?will be screened at 8 and the director will greet the citizens of Puchon via videotaped message before the actual screening. This year? festival will deliver 140 films (75 feature films/ 65 short films) from 35 countries divided into 5 sections.
