“‘호프’ 없는 ‘베이’는 없다.” 의 보도에 따르면 의 제작자이자 주연을 맡은 드웨인 존슨이 자신의 페이스북을 통해 데이비드 하셀호프의 합류를 알렸다. 하셀호프는 1990년대 미국 NBC에서 방영됐던 인기 드라마 의 주인공 미치 부캐넌을 연기했다. 국내에서는 <SOS 해상구조대>라는 제목으로 KBS2에서 방영됐다. LA 해상 구조대의 활약을 그린 는 드라마를 원작으로 한 리메이크 버전이다. 엘리트 수상구조대의 리더 미치 부캐넌(드웨인 존슨)이 전직 올림픽 선수(잭 에프런)을 수상구조대원으로 길러내는 과정을 담는다. 영화는 2월22일 촬영을 시작했다. (2011)를 연출한 세스 고든 감독이 맡았다. 잭 에프런의 상대역인 ‘썸머’에 (2013), (2015) 등에 출연한 알렉산드라 다드다리오가 캐스팅됐다. 그밖에 2009년 미스 월드 우승자 출신인 프리얀카 초프라, 켈리 로르바흐 등이 출연한다. 켈리 로르바흐는 과거 드라마에서 파멜라 앤더슨이 연기한 C.J 파커 역을 맡았다. 2017년 개봉 예정이다.
